From crab shell sutures to cleaning up oil spills: students at Univeristy of Northern Iowa celebrate national chemistry week (Oct. 29- Nov. 3.)

Hypo-allergenic, alkaline-resitsant sutures made from the chitin in crab shells are just one example of front line reseach in chemistry which could improve many lives. Students and faculty of the chemistry department will cite many other examples.
