The Center for Multicultural Education (CME) honored the 50th anniversary of the UNI Seven on March 9 in the Maucker Union Ballrooms. The article discusses the 1970 peaceful protests that led to the suspension of seven students - "The UNI 7" - and subsequent protest where almost 30 students were arrested. One of the protest demands was a learning space for people of color - two years later, the vice president's house became the Ethnic Minority Cultural and Educational Center, which evolved into today's CME. The UNI Center for Multicultural Education (CME) hosted a panel discussion with Black and African American students. This was the latest panel in the "What Your Students Want You to Know" series, which was launched in November 2019 to feature voices of UNI students from diverse populations.
