The garden was a place for students to grow fruits, vegetables and other plants; photo. 1/16/2020 After nearly 27 years of working at the Northern Iowan, Business Manager Michele Smith retired on January 14, 2020. A party was held in her honor at The Horny Toad on Main Street the same day for friends, family, and colleagues. Michele has been a staple at the Northern Iowan, selling ads across the Cedar Valley and offering support to her students. It is safe to say Michele left her mark on the paper and on the lives of her students.

The best part was that each dish could easily be made in the dorms with no cooking appliances necessary.
