In response to backlash against UNI's decision to hold spring commencement virtually, the Commencement Committee held an emergency meeting February 16 to discuss concerns and possibilities for the ceremony. Additionally, UNI alumnus and newly-elected Iowa representative Carter Nordman introduced a bill to the Iowa State Legislature that would require Iowa's three Regent universities to hold in-person spring commencement ceremonies. UNI senior Mili Saliu began a petition asking the university to reconsider their decision to hold commencement virtually, and it has gathered over 2,000 signatures; photo.
