3/27/1961 Ten students are selected to perform in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Band at their annual concert in the auditorium of Wartburg College. The band consists of seventy members from Wartburg, Cornell, Drake, Luther, Iowa State, and St. Olaf.

3 Concert Band Hosts Tallcorn Music Festival

6/1/1960 Besides their usual concerts and performances, the Concert Band had the opportunity to tour The Tall Corn Music Festival. This gave the group the opportunity to travel and perform around Iowa.

6/1/1960 One of the year's highlights was Dimensions in Jazz. The concert DIJ #11 was extra special when Don Gold, assistant jazz editor and jazz promotion director of Playboy, was the emcee. Original compositions such as Leonard Feather's "Prancer", Dick Scott's "It Goes Like So," and Chuck Mandernach's "Blue, Like Blue" were performed. Donna Musgrove, Jerry Christensen, and the Phi Mu Quartet were also featured. Dimensions in Jazz is sponsored by the Beta Nu Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.

6 Marching Band Gets New Uniforms

6/1/1960 This year, the TC Marching Band made their debut with new outfits. They showed them off at every home football game where they performed under the direction of Don Wendt during the halftime demonstration. The marchers were hosts to visiting high school bands at the annual Band Day held on campus in the fall.
7 Phi Mu Alpha Sponsors DIJ #11

6/1/1960 Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia participated in the 11th Annual Dimensions in Jazz Concert, Christmas Concert, and others. This fraternity hosts the musically inclined and the members are active participants of the performing arts. Sponsored by Mr. Frank Hill, the fraternity activities include an annual picnic with music faculty and monthly "musical evenings."
