Additionally, UNI alumnus and newly-elected Iowa representative Carter Nordman introduced a bill to the Iowa State Legislature that would require Iowa's three Regent universities to hold in-person spring commencement ceremonies. On the men's team, six advanced to the finals in five different events: 60 meter dash - Isaiah Trousil, Tayshaun Cooper, Eli Hicks; 60 meter hurdles - Jak Sumners; 200 meter dash - Isaiah Trousil, Tayshaun Cooper, Eli Hicks; 800 meter dash - Wal Khat; mile - CJ May. On the women's team, six advanced in three events: 60 meter hurdles - Hannah Schau, Megan Hudson; 200 meter dash - Taylor Raines, Tyler Gray; 800 meter - Dianna Slight, Katie Nimrod. Six additional athletes received all-conference honors: Chase Van Sant, Jack Sumners, Kyler Yodts, Darius King, Isabelle Holtzen, and Cam Bauer. The UNI softball team opened their season when they hosted the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic, including visitors DePaul, Drake, Murray State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State. On day one, UNI lost to South Dakota, 5-3, and Murray State, 2-1. On day two, the Panthers beat Murray State and and lost to South Dakota State, 6-1; photos.

UNI took the top five spots in shot-put and three top-three finishes across the board. Darius King won shot-put, followed by Keegan Tritle, Tom Yezek, Kyler Yodts, and William Blaser. Alanna Nietert set a career-best, placing her third in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) and 58th in the NCAA. Isaiah Trousil came second in the 200-meter dash, first place in the MVC and 39th overall in the NCAA. C.J. May scored a career best and third overall in the MVC. In relays, the women's team is third in the conference and the men's is first.
