6/1/1960 Phi Mu Alpha, the musical fraternity for men, hosted the Convention for Province No. 6 of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Alongside them, the Music Department also sponsored Sigma Alpha Iota, the musical sorority for women, and hosted the Musical Educators National Conference. Both organizations helped gather $1,000,000 for the new music building.
