In their first game, they lost to the Jackrabbits, 2-1. In their second game, they lost to the Jayhawks, 4-1. In their third game, they defeated the Jayhawks, 4-1. In 2006 the Panthers traveled to Jack Trice Stadium for a matchup with the Iowa State Cyclones. Although a close game throughout the entire game, within the last 6 seconds the Panther field goal was missed leaving the Cyclones with a win 28-27. A good game for the Panthers considering they were very out-matched, leaving them with 2-3 on that season.
