1 Back-to-school workshop for adults to be held at the University of Northern Iowa. Workshop for non-traditional students interested in the 1990 spring semester. The workshop is designed to give information about college life.

5 Mostly-white campuses need more support services to keep minority students in teaching, says University of Northern Iowa counseling grad student. Minorities in Teaching aim to recruit more minority students into the teaching profession. But once they arrive on a campus like UNI, which is predominantly white, they will need an extra measure of support from University community to stay in school.
6 New program developed by Regents' center at University of Northern Iowa targets Waterloo at-risk children from birth through age three. Children and their parents will participate in activities designed to help them in several areas: cognitive, physical, social, nutrition, stimulation and stimulation. The project will also provide a full range of support services to participating families
7 Pi omega pi honorary initiates new members at University of Northern Iowa. The new initiates are Wendy Scadden and Debra Uecker. To be eligible for membership, a student must be a business education major, have a B average in all business courses, rank in the upper 35th percentile of his or her class.

10 Two University of Northern Iowa professors recognized as distinguished scholars. Robert Gish and Donald Whitnah received the UNI Distinguished Scholars Award. It is intended to honor distinguished and eminent scholars and artists among the UNI graduate faculty by allowing them to pursue research on creative activities.
11 University of Northern Iowa speech team sweeps two tournaments in a row. The first was on the UNI campus and involved fifteen schools. Individual achievements listed. On November 4 the team placed first of 16 schools represented at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
