UNI's first "Arctic Day" was held on January 31 in conjunction with the launch of University of the Arctic (UArctic) and the ARCTICenter on campus. The center held a launch and information in Rod Library followed by scholar Tatiana Egorova's presentation "The Peoples of Frozen II: the Saami Culture in the Arctic" in the Innovative Teaching and Technology Center (ITTC). Its goal is to provide research and education about the North. 10 UNI competes in Iowa's Black & Gold Invitational

UNI took the top five spots in shot-put and three top-three finishes across the board. Darius King won shot-put, followed by Keegan Tritle, Tom Yezek, Kyler Yodts, and William Blaser. Alanna Nietert set a career-best, placing her third in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) and 58th in the NCAA. Isaiah Trousil came second in the 200-meter dash, first place in the MVC and 39th overall in the NCAA. C.J. May scored a career best and third overall in the MVC. In relays, the women's team is third in the conference and the men's is first.
