Professor Henry Van Engen, head of the department of mathematics, is the co-author of a new second grade arithmetic book

The book is entitled, "Numbers in Action." Van Engen collaborated with M. L. Hartung from the University of Chicago in writing the book. One distinctive feature of the book is the use of pictorial sequences to develop number concepts.
