12 A. J. Stone Signed for his 24th year of teaching science; resides in Milan, Missouri; celebrated his 88th birthday. His wife, Elzena Santee, is deceased. Two daughters, Edna and Mabel, are living; graduate work at the University of Missouri, Iowa, and Northwestern.
13 Mr. and Mr. Ralph Morgan, (Jessie A. Storie) Both are teaching in Osage, Iowa, this fall. Ralph will be principal of Washington grade school, and Jessie will teach literature and reading. Ralph and Jessie have been teaching in Alaska for the past four years.
13 Blanche Brocksus Will teach English, Latin, speech, and direct dramatics in Garner High School this year. Previously she taught at Forest City, New Market and Charter Oak, Iowa.
13 Mrs. R. H. Chisholm, (Melva L. Sherman) Resides in Exira, Iowa, where her husband is superintendent of schools. The Chisholms have two daughters, Marilyn Ann and Jane Kay. Melva has been teaching in the Exira schools for three years.
13 Clara V. Madson Is a reporter on the Mason City Globe-Gazette. She resides in Mason City.
13 Christie Tollefson Married Col. Carl T. Schmidt, on July 19, 1946. Before marriage, she was a Captain in the WAC. She spent two years in Europe. They will reside in Washington, D. C., where Colonel Schmidt has been stationed since his return from Europe.
13 Mrs. Mark F. Kline, (Gladys Jeannette Johnson) Is one of many housewives who have resumed to teaching during the present educational emergency. She has been teaching the first grade in Ellsworth, Iowa, for the past two years.
13 Martha Ann Meyer Is a Spanish instructor at Denison University, Granville, Ohio, this year. Last year she was a professor of Spanish at Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin.
13 Mrs. Harvey E. Schultz, (Opal Irene Utter) Resides in Mason City, Iowa. Her husband is in the brick and tile business. They have two children, Linda Mae and Gary Lee.
13 Leitha Frederick Is teaching fifth grade in the Rawlins, Wyoming, schools this year. She taught fifth grade at Lincoln School, Cedar Falls, for several years prior to this new position.
14 Garrett A. Lenhart Elected governor of Lions district 9-B; employed by station WHO, the Central Broadcasting Company, in Des Moines; serving as secretary of the Commercial Club of West Des Moines for the fourth consecutive year; superintendent of Methodist Sunday School.
14 Millard L. Berry and Beula M. Nash Millard is instructor in industrial arts education at the Smith Hughes machine shop in the Champaign, Illinois, high school. He is married to Beula M. Nash, and they reside in Champaign.
14 Mrs. Russell L. Bowers, (Lillian Garrabrant) Is teaching music and English at New Hartford, Iowa. Russell is employed by the John Deere Tractor Company. They reside in Waterloo.
14 Floyd H. Harger Is director of athletics and coach at the Ankeny, Iowa, High School. He served in the Navy for four years as a lieutenant in the Gene Tunney athletic program; coached for eight years previously at Sanborn, Iowa; attended Drake University last summer.
14 Pauline Johnson Is vocal music instructor in the Cherokee, Iowa, schools this year. Previously she taught at Storm Lake and Boone, Iowa.
14 David E. Mackie Is completing work toward his master's degree at the University of Missouri. He married Jeanette Sawtell December 29, 1945. They reside at Columbia, Missouri.
14 Aline Martinek Is teaching English and music at the Callendar, Iowa, high school this year. Last year she taught in the Wesley township school at Algona. Her school was represented by an art exhibit at the Iowa State Fair in August.
14 Arnold Stienjes Is teaching chemistry at the Muscatine, Iowa, Junior College this year. He formerly taught in the high schools at Beresford, South Dakota, and LeMars, Iowa. He also taught in the junior college at Iowa Falls and Boone, Iowa.
14 Jack Arends Now teaching at the Massachusetts Institute of Art, Boston, where he is to develop a department of photography; taught at Bridgeport Teachers College last year; spent the summer in Mexico. In the armed forces he was engaged in aerial photography.
14 Lois Sherman New superintendent of Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls; was superintendent of nurses at the army hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; was superintendent of the College Hospital. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa nursing school.
14 Mr. and Mrs. Basil M. Finch, (Lillie Allenstein) Have moved to Knoxville, Iowa. Basil has been transferred to Knoxville from the Schick Hospital. He is engaged in the same personnel work at Knoxville.
14 Mrs. Harold Arnold, (Mildred L. Smith) Resides in Atlantic, Iowa. Her husband is a city mail carrier. During the war, Mildred taught the first grade in the Atlantic schools. They have a daughter, Linda Lee.
14 Mr. and Mrs. C. Ray Bennett, (Viola Gibson) Reside in Des Moines, Iowa. Ray owns and operates a hardware store in Des Moines. They were married in August 1942.
14 Max Clark Is now superintendent of schools at Dubuque, Iowa. For the last six years he was superintendent of the Sac City schools. Previously he held the same position at Randalia and West Branch, Iowa. He succeeds Jordan Larson at Dubuque.
14 N. Mildred Gleason Is teaching commercial subjects in the Mechanicsville, Iowa, high school this year. She resides in Oelwein, Iowa.
14 Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Duncan, (Neola Stevens) Reside in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He is operating a men's clothing store but says, "Sorry, no white shirts." The Duncans have one daughter, Patricia Ann.
14 Park M. Hancher Resides in Berkeley, California. He is a sales representative for Tingue-Brown Company in San Francisco. He was located for seven years in Los Angeles.
14 Mrs. Robert Johnson, (Alice M. Peterson) Resides in Eaton, Colorado. She and her husband are engaged in farming. They have one daughter, Karen Joy. Until her marriage in 1942, Alice taught in schools in Iowa and New Mexico. They plan to move March 1, 1947, to a farm near Marathon, Iowa.

15 Mildred Williams and Gladys VanArsdale Is now supervisor of teacher training in the second grade at Central State Teachers College, Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She visited Teachers College during the summer. Also teaching at Stevens Point is Gladys VanArsdale.
15 Kenneth B. Knudsen, Irene Dawes, and Knute Knudsen Kenneth is the registrar at Knapp College, Tacoma, Washington; discharged from the Navy as a lieutenant j.g.; son of Knute Knudsen of Scarville, Iowa. Kenneth married the former Irene Dawes; they have two children, Regena and Jerry.
15 Mrs. Thomas L. Kinseth, (Marian Brisbine) Resides in Burbank Calif.; teaching third grade at Roosevelt elementary school at Burbank; her husband is an engineer at the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. They have three children, Roger Thomas, Karol Ann, and Billy Bob.
15 Wayne Black Is the new coach at the Fayette consolidated school in Fayette, Iowa. Prior to this he was principal and industrial arts teacher at Ute, Iowa, coach at Charter Oak, Iowa, and industrial arts teacher at Newell, Iowa.
15 Walter F. Bloom Is engaged in the wholesale business at Spencer, Iowa. The Blooms have two children, Barbara Ann and Gary Allan. Walter taught two years at Lake Park and three years at Spencer prior to entering business. His address is Spencer, Iowa.
15 Ellen A. Scanlon Is principal of Franklin School, Creston, Iowa, where she resides.

20 Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Wilken, (Helen Wonders) Moved to Meservey, Iowa, in May to serve the Evangelical Church. They have two children, Kathryn Ann, and Keith Allen.
20 George T. Gilluly Is coaching at Winfield, Iowa, again this year. He taught there before entering the service in June 1941. He is also serving as principal.
20 Kenneth M. Gittins Is teaching in the Rose Point, Michigan, public schools. He is the father of two sons, Coleman Heaton and Martin Heckert. During the war he was assigned duty on the USS Guam and saw action with Task Force 58. He resides in Detroit, Michigan.
20 Edgar P. Swanson and Irene E. Warner Edgar is supervisor of employment at Iowa State College. His wife is the former Irene E. Warner. They have one daughter, Carol Lynn. A Navy veteran, Edgar is working towards his Ph. D. degree. Their address is Iowa State College, Ames.
20 Mrs. Rodger Altenheim, (Helen Lehr) Will teach in the Traer, Iowa, school this year. She taught five years in the Geneseo Consolidated school and three years at Marion, Iowa.
20 Thomas Hanifan Is boys physical education director at Maquoketa this year.
20 Mrs. J. Gordon Hollis, (Melva Miller) The Hollis family lives on a farm. They have two children, Sheryl and Curtis. The address is Route 4, Waterloo, Iowa.
20 Malcolm J. McLelland Has been named instructor and administrative assistant to the dean of the Indiana University school of health, physical education and recreation. A veteran of the air corps, Malcolm holds the master's degree from Indiana University.
20 Bernice Olson Is teaching in the Mason City, Iowa, schools this year. Previously she taught three years at Iowa Falls.
20 Wendell Rider Is teaching piano at Eastern Kentucky Teachers College, Richmond, where he has also appeared in recital and as soloist with orchestra.
20 Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Palmer, (Margaret "Pat" Newcomer) Have three children and live on a "real" cattle ranch five miles west of Miami, Florida.
20 Mrs. Kay W. Ruge, (Leona Alice Plumb) Lives at Coon Rapids, Iowa. Her husband is shop foreman for the Coon Rapids Enterprise. They have a daughter, Cathy Kay.
20 O. K. Conklin Is living at Marble Rock, Iowa. He is teaching at Greene.
20 E. L. Harden Is associate professor in guidance and counseling at Michigan State College, in East Lansing. He was previously principal at the Battle Creek, Michigan, High school.
20 Raymond Smalling Is the new basketball coach at Dubuque senior high school. He will also teach science. He was the assistant coach and biology teacher at Ames, Iowa.
20 Kenneth Mueters Is teaching history and vocal music in the junior and senior high school at Quimby, Iowa. He taught two years at Martelle and four years at Gowrie, Iowa. He is married and has a three-year-old child.
20 Mrs. Earl H. Bell, (Grace Loder) Living in Virginia; Earl, Ph.D., University of Wisconsin, spent the latter part of the summer in Poland "on loan" to UNRRA from the department of agriculture. He served as chief of the agricultural rehabilitation division. They have a son.
20 Mrs. A. G. Davidson, (Eliza E. Sutton) Lives at Stanwood, Iowa. She has a daughter, Rosanna Mary. The Davidsons are engaged in farming.
20 Melvene M. Draheim Is in the consultant and occupational guidance department of Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. She has completed residence requirements for the Ph. D. degree in education at the University of Chicago.
20 Mrs. Henry Smith Jr., (V. Ione Johnson) Lives on a farm near Guernsey, Iowa. The Smiths have a daughter, Cheryl Ann.
20 Gordon Arends Is planning to study in the Columbia University library school this fall. As a captain in the air forces he was in England, France, and in the occupation forces in Germany.
20 Paul Buck Is principal at the Lake Mills, Iowa, high school this year. Previously he taught at the Shattuck Military School, Faribault, Minnesota, for three years and in the Charles City, Iowa, schools for thirteen years.
20 Mrs. Kenneth Gifford, (Faye Iola Richardson) Is postmaster of Alpha, Iowa. She has held the position since May 9, 1944. Her husband owns and operates a service station in Alpha.
21 John C. Schmidt Has been elected superintendent of the Ringsted, Iowa, school. For the past ten years he has been a teacher and superintendent of schools in Harrison County.
21 Roy B. Minnis Is now high school principal at Winterset, Iowa. He attended the State University of Iowa before going to the navy in 1943. He taught school at Aurora, Illinois, and at Waterloo, Iowa. He served in the navy from 1943 to 1946.
21 Dave Natvig Is now head wrestling coach at the East Waterloo High School. He also teaches history at East Junior High. Runner-up in the National Intercollegiate tournament in 1937, he is a veteran of four and one half years in the service.
21 Arlene Elizabeth Peters Received the master's degree from the Biblical Seminary in New York City late in May.
21 Theda Van Patter Is teaching in the primary grades at Ft. Dodge, Iowa, this year. She formerly taught at Oelwein.
21 Charles W. Jensen Joined the public relations staff of the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa. A veteran of nearly three years in the Marines, Jensen received a B. A. degree in journalism from the State University of Iowa in 1943; serves as managing editor of The Maytag News.
21 Miriam E. Peterson Is a commercial instructor at Madrid, Iowa, this year.
21 C. W. Poppenheimer and Helen Marshall Charles is high school principal at Sibley, Iowa, this year. Formerly he served as junior high school principal at West Des Moines. He served nearly three years in the Navy. His wife, the former Helen Marshall, is teaching fourth grade at Sibley.
21 Erling B. Hanson Erling is instrumental and vocal music supervisor in the public schools in Manchester, Iowa. His wife is teaching English in the Manchester junior high school. During the summers of 1944 and 1945, he worked as a licensed radio operator and announcer.
21 Mrs. Francis Kutish, (Virginia Becker) Resides in Ames, where her husband is assistant professor of economics at Iowa State College. They are the parents of a boy, Gerald, and a girl, Kathleen.

22 Mrs. Vern C. Hatteberg, (Dorothy Moulton) Resides at Fonda, Iowa, where she and her husband farm.
22 Harland A. Riebe and Nedra Jayne Thorsrud Harland is athletic director and coach at Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, this year. He coached at Wapello, Iowa, in 1941-1942, and served four years in the navy's physical fitness program. His wife is the former Nedra Jayne Thorsrud.
22 Mrs. Nathanael Rathbone, (Madeline Briggs) Resides in Glenview, Illinois. Her husband is an actuary for an insurance company. They have a daughter, Julia Marie.
22 Harold K. Riggs Resides in Menominee, Wisconsin. He married the former Dorothy Maria Kelly of Springfield, Massachusetts, on October 2, 1944.
22 Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Barnes, (Norma Bollhoefer) Live on an 80-acre farm on U. S. highway 30, near Plymouth, Indiana. Norma is teaching high school English in the public schools of Plymouth, while her husband is employed by the Socony Vacuum Oil Company.
22 John E. Bechter Formerly of Independence, has accepted a teaching position at Sumner, Iowa. For the past five years he has been principal and commercial instructor at Hinton, Iowa. He is married and has a son.
22 Charlotte Collinson Married John Almond on July 14, 1946. Before her marriage, she was a kindergarten teacher at Cylinder, Stanwood, and Charles City, Iowa. Her husband served in the army for about three years. He graduated from a high school in Lancaster, England.
22 Robert Hunt and Helen Jepson Robert is head basketball coach at the South Dakota School of Mines, Rapid City. He entered the armed forces in 1943; was a prisoner in Germany about a year before the end of the war; Coached at Early, Iowa; married Helen Jepson.
22 Mrs. Robert J. Becker, (Virginia Howe) Reside in Waverly, Iowa. They have two daughters, Kathy Ann and Linda K. Robert was discharged from the Army Air Forces with the rank of captain after five years of service.
22 Leona Donimy Is teaching in the intermediate grades in the Ft. Dodge, Iowa, schools this year. She formerly taught at Sheldon.
22 Lois Moessner Is supervisor of music in Golden, Colorado, where she has produced her own operettas and choruses for girls' and mixed glee clubs. She writes both the text and music for her compositions.
22 Dale A. Nebel Is doing relief work in Shanghai, China. He expects to be transferred to the Philippine Islands in the near future.
22 Mrs. Anna Marie Neessen, (Anna Voss) Has resumed her teaching work in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, schools. Her husband, Arthur Neessen, suffered a fatal heart attack December 3, 1945. She is teaching in the kindergarten, and resides in Cedar Rapids.
22 Edward J. Phippin Has opened an investment service in Brattleboro, Vermont, following his discharge from the Army Air Force.
22 Alice Estelle Bliss Is a social worker at the Jane Boyd Community House in Cedar Rapids. This fall she is in charge of story and game hours for girls, the playground, and girls' club work. She resides in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
22 Leevern Robert Johnson, (Evelyn Moir) Leevern is now teaching at Tuohey Business College, Chicago. He is married to Evelyn Moir.
22 Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Moore, (Marie Genevieve Johnson) Married on December 1, 1945, and reside in Dallas, Texas.
22 Orra Rew Is coaching at Postville, Iowa, this year. Orra coached at Olds and Winthrop, Iowa, before entering the service.
22 Mrs. Arnold Stamp, (Merigene Riedinger) Resides at Maquoketa, Iowa. Before her marriage March 27, 1946, she taught in Vancouver, Washington, and at Maquoketa. She also worked with the United States Weather Bureau and United Airlines communications. The Stamps are farmers.
23 Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bowen, (Marie Theim) Are living at Boulder, Colorado. Keith is teaching English in the Boulder high school this fall. Keith and Marie have one son, Peter.
23 Mildred June Clock Is teaching in the first grade at Hawthorne, California. Previously she taught at Clemons, Iowa, and was employed by the F. B. I. in Washington, D. C. She resides in Los Angeles.
23 Mr. and Mrs. Milan G. Fogleman, (Neva Louise Barkley) Reside in Ames, Iowa, while Milan is attending Iowa State College. Before her marriage, Neva taught in Waukee, Iowa.
23 Rachel Ruth Hoffman Received the master of arts degree from Ohio State University at the spring quarter convocation, June 7. Rachel formerly taught in the schools at New Providence, Vinton, and Iowa City, Iowa.
23 Virginia Nauman Will teach home economics in the Allison, Iowa, school this year. She taught in a junior high school at Chicago one year and one year at Fayette, Iowa.
23 Virginia White Has returned for her second year as sixth grade teacher in the Monticello, Iowa, public schools this fall.
23 Norma D. Zell Is teaching English in the Storm Lake, Iowa, school this year. She taught at Highview, Iowa, and for the past year was an instructor in the junior high school at Holstein, Iowa. She attended the University of Minnesota last summer.
23 Lois Barrigar Is teaching instrumental music in the Ottumwa schools this year. She has taken graduate work at the University of Iowa, and previously taught at Hudson and Storm Lake, Iowa.
23 Mrs. Earl J. Beaver, (Dorothy E. Richter) Is teaching in the Fort Des Moines, Iowa, school. Her husband is attending Drake University. They were married February 3, 1946. Their address is Fort Des Moines, Iowa.
23 LaVerna Bevans Is the fifth grade teacher in the Monticello, Iowa, public school this fall. She has been teaching there for the past two years.
23 Gerald E. Bisbee Formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, was ordained in Malden, Massachusetts, in June; pastor of the Maplewood Methodist Church; has held pastorates in St. Charles, and Raymond, Iowa, and Holdbrook, Massachusetts; received bachelor of sacred theology degree.
23 Henrietta Koele Taught the last three years in Aurelia, Iowa; is the new mathematics teacher in Spencer, Iowa, junior high school. She has also taught in New Hartford, Iowa.
23 Dorothy C. Clausen Is teaching in Webster school at Des Moines, Iowa, where she resides. She attended summer sessions at the College in 1944 and 1945, working toward a degree in elementary education.
23 Mrs. Harold Grumbel, (Shirley Bergum) Is teaching in the Northport public schools at Long Island, New York, where they reside. Her husband, an engineering graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is principal aerodynamicist at Republic Aviation Corporation.
23 Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Peterson, (Eleanor Tostlebe) Both are teaching in the Quimby, Iowa, high school this year. Eleanor teaches commercial subjects, and Dennis is instrumental music director.
23 Pearl Picht Is teaching third grade in the Nevada, Iowa, schools this year. She and a group of young people toured the western part of the United States for two weeks last summer.
23 Ann Taylor Is a senior student nurse at the University of Minnesota. She taught for two years at Anamosa, Iowa, following graduation from Teachers College. She resides in Minneapolis.
23 Jacob Stratman Is the new commercial teacher at Shenandoah, Iowa. Previously he taught in Winterset, Greene, and Fort Dodge, Iowa. He served four years in the Navy.
23 Mr. and Mrs. George K. Appleby, (Virginia Shannon) Reside in Belle Glade, Florida, where George is employed in a packing house industry. They are the parents of a son, Robert Michael.
23 Iver L. Bidne, Jr. Was supervisor of the Elk Run playground in Waterloo, Iowa, last summer. He will complete work on his master's degree in group work administration at George Williams College, Chicago, this year.
23 Lewis B. Hilton Is instructor of reed instruments in the Drake University College of Fine Arts. A member of the coast guard for three years, he took graduate work in music education at Columbia University.
24 Virginia Rittenhouse Is teaching in the kindergarten in the Ft. Dodge, Iowa, schools this year.
24 Robert Titsworth and Janet Prichard Robert is basketball and baseball coach at Independence, Iowa, this year. He is a veteran of World War II and is married to the former Janet Prichard. They are parents of a daughter, Suzanne.
24 Mrs. Rita Kane Weepie Will teach fourth grade in the Independence, Iowa, schools this year.
24 Evelyn Meyer Is teaching in the Portland No. 6 rural school at Algona, Iowa, this year. A graduate of the four-quarter rural course, she served as an apprentice teacher in Wesley township, Algona, last year.
24 Dorothy Nagle Will be the commercial teacher in the public school at Monticello, Iowa, this year.
24 Mildred Orr Is the kindergarten teacher at Monticello, Iowa, this year. She is a graduate of a four-year kindergarten-primary course at the College.

24 Gertrude Kitchen Married Elmer L. Johnson on June 1, 1946. Before her marriage, she taught at Greene, Iowa. Elmer, who was engaged in special army communication work during the war, is now superintendent of schools at Plainfield, Iowa, where they reside.
24 Emma Lou Maurer Will teach in the Red Oak, Iowa, high school this year. Previously she taught in the Randall Consolidated school, at Rock Rapids and at Sioux Center.
