1	Darwin Week: the science of prayer	Hector Avalos, a philosophy and religious studies professor at Iowa State University, lectured during Darwin Week. His presentation was entitled; "Can science prove that prayer works?"; photo.

6	Celebrating Black History Month	It is difficult to imagine the campus under the segregation rules that were present during the 1960's. During February the country takes a moment to remember, reflect, and educate itself about the African-American dream; photo.
7	Ways to celebrate Valentine's Day in the Cedar Valley	Students share their choices of activities to celebrate. Movies, dining out, making homemade Valentines, and ice skating are all possibilities; photo.

10	Get to the McLeod and support the Lady Panthers	Women's basketball team has an important game with Creighton. The Bluejays are one game behind the league leading Panthers. Students, faculty, and the community urged to get out and support the women's program; photo.
10	A hostage crisis	Tax cuts for the wealthy and trickle down economics seem to reign supreme. Author believes that government should get out of the way and let the market work itself out.
10	Debate or debacle?	Freethinkers and Inquirers and the Navigators debate the topic; "Are Christian beliefs damaging the world?" The Navigators seemed to state evangelical fundamentalism that did not seem to represent mainstream Christian thought.
12	Why I am ashamed today to call myself an Iowan	The Iowa House vote to prohibit gay marriages and make recognition of state civil unions illegal has caused the author to question the basis of what Iowans think.
13	Hosch named MVC Athlete of the Week	Holli Hosch is the third UNI track and field student athlete to be honored. She won the 800 meter race at Notre Dame, defeating some of the nation's top runners. She smashed the UNI record by nearly three seconds; photo.
13	Kalin named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week	Jacqueline Kalin averaged 24 points per game and had a 4.0 grade point average during the period, January 31-February 6; photo.
13	UNI falls to Evansville 70-62	Men's basketball team loses second game in a row, following the injury to Lucas O'Rear. Panthers were outshot, 51 % to 38 %, but did commit fewer turnovers and outrebounded Evansville; photo.
13	Iowa collegiate all-star basketball team	Proposed fantasy team made up of players from UNI, Iowa, Iowa State, and Drake. David Arseneault from Grinnell College would be the coach; photo.
