4/15/2021 On April 14, UNI's on-campus vaccination clinic in the West Gym was cancelled due to the FDA's recommendation to "pause" the Johnson and Johnson shot. The vaccination was paused due to six female individuals having severe blood clots within the last 6-13 days. The UNI Student Health Center had little time to warn students of the cancellation and many students thought that the situation should have been handled better.

2/6/2020 UNI students and community members turned out for the Iowa caucuses, but the caucuses didn't turn out as planned. Tere were difficulties with the new app-based reporting system used for the first time this uear by the Iowa Democratic Party causing a delay in results. This mishap gained nation wide attention causing questions to ensue as to if Iowa should be the first in the nation to caucus; photo.
7 Panther Train moves to first in Big 12 conference

2/3/2020 The Panther wrestling team traveled to Norman, Oklahoma, for a Big 12 competition against the University of Oklahoma Sooners. The Panthers won 25-13 and are now first in the Big 12 standings. The Panthers are now 5-1 in the Big 12 conference and 6-3 in the season. They return to the West Gym to host the Mountainers of West Virginia,

11/21/2019 UNI Wrestling traveled to Evanston, Illinois to battle the Wildcats. The final score was 24-20, with a UNI loss. Northwestern started out the day and took the first two matches, but UNI picked up the next match before losing the next two. The Panthers did not play their best at this meet, however, have hope for the future.

11/14/2019 The UNI wrestling team has returned from the offseason with a bang at the Harold Nichols Open at Iowa State University. Six Panther wrestlers claimed the title in their weight group on the day with five more finishing in second place. The winners are as follows Michael Blockhus, Max Thomsen, Bryce Steiert, Taylor Lujan, Lance Runyon, and Parker Keckeisen; photo.

9/12/2019 Bernie Sanders came to UNI while on the campaign trail. Due to weather, the event was held in the West Gym and around 500 UNI students attended. Many students were interviewed and gave a statement to the newspaper. UNI was just one stop on Sander's Campus Tailgate Tour, a campaign trail that will allow Sanders to speak at many college campuses across the US; photo.

1/14/2016 A supporter of Donald Trump attends the January rally in the West Gym, driving from New York state to Iowa in a truck painted with a mural of the presidential candidate. The painting contains a facial portrait of Trump, as well as an Eagle holding the American flag in its talons over a depiction of the earth. Julian Raven, the artist, claims that his motivation to create the piece and promote it on a truck was a result of "divine inspiration;" photos.
