UNI observes inaugural 'Arctic Day' UNI's first "Arctic Day" was held on January 31 in conjunction with the launch of University of the Arctic (UArctic) and the ARCTICenter on campus. The center held a launch and information in Rod Library followed by scholar Tatiana Egorova's presentation "The Peoples of Frozen II: the Saami Culture in the Arctic" in the Innovative Teaching and Technology Center (ITTC). Its goal is to provide research and education about the North. UArctic president Lars Kullerud spoke about the organization, and Mary Youngbear, registrar for the Meskwaki Cultural Center and Museum in Tama, Iowa, spoke about indigenous tribes in North America; photo.
